Happy Monday Foxes! Before re-launching my blog in 2015 (after abandoning it for 3 years), I spent countless hours perfecting my website, planning my brand aesthetic, writing blog post, coming up with outfits etc. I was so excited about changing the focus of my blog to personal style and lifestyle and I couldn’t wait to share what I love with the world. Even with all the excitement, I was scared out my mind to press publish.
Even though family/friends often come to me for style advice, request me to style them, even assisting them with re-organizing their closets, I was starting to second guessing myself. Fear & doubt had officially set in. Being the Virgo that I am, I began to overanalyze everything. Why would people care about what I think in the fashion world? Would people support me? Would I ever work in fashion? Critiquing everything I wrote, and second guessing every outfit choice. Doing. The. MOST!
Just before I was about to delete my entire blog and walk away, I called my best friend balling crying (queue the violins). As I was ranting about all my fears of what people would think she cut me off and asked me “Why do you care? Do what you love no matter what. People who need help with style or love style in general will vibe with you. Cater to them and forget the rest. Do you!” Thank GOD for positive, supportive, REAL friends! She was absolutely right! I wiped my tears and pressed publish.
[pullquote width=”300″ float=”left”]To me, fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, fearless is having fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.[/pullquote]
Now a little over 2 years since my re-launch, I’m so happy I pushed through my insecurities and decided to blog. I’ve grown my following significantly, and met some amazing women along the way. Don’t get me wrong, I still feel butterflies in my stomach before I publish any blog post. But I’ve learned to push through regardless. That’s the true definition of being fearless. My tagline for my brand before relaunching in 2015 use to say “Be Fly, be Fierce, & Foxxy”, but after my come to Jesus moment with my bestie it was quickly changed to “Be fly, be fearless, & foxxy!” Let me know in the comments below what fear you’re kicking to the curb in 2018!
