Living in a Instagram world where all you see is
makeup guru’s influencers with poppin’ makeup and metro booming skin! Of course they get all the high end products for FREE.99, so it made me wonder if a regular gal like me can get poppin skin on a budget?
When I was a teenager, I had really bad acne and was very self conscious of it. Even now as an adult, I still deal with acne, acne scarring, and a little bit of hyper-pigmentation. The older I get the more I feel the need to take my skincare regimen seriously. So I started to look up different skincare products online that won’t break the bank. I also found some new items that I fell in love with!

1 Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes
This has to be the holy grail of make up removers. I first tried the micellar liquid and was blown away by how well it worked. What I love most about Simple products is just that – Simple. The smell is very faint and the formula is gentle. Although I loved the liquid I missed having makeup wipes. So when Simple came out with the wipes I was first in line! These are definitely a staple in my regimen and I have yet to find anything that compares.
2 Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleaner
Cetaphil is an old faithful. When I struggled with acne in high school, my dermatologist recommended this. I didn’t have any problems with Cetaphil, but I kept trying different products. After having a horrible experience with multiple skincare products, I went back to the basics. Best decision EVER!
Cetapil is recommended for normal to oily skin types. This product barley has a smell to it. It leaves my face feeling so soft and moisturized. Also the formula is perfect for removing makeup off the skin. The consistency is kinda thick like a lotion which I LOVE. If you want to try it out and not purchase the 16oz bottle, Target has a amazing sample size section. This way you arn’t paying full price and get enough product that will last a couple weeks.
3 Vanity Planet Ultimate Skin Spa System
This item was sent from heaven! I really wanted a spin brush but wasn’t on board with spending over $100. So when I saw a review on this product with a promo code, I hopped on it immediately. The retail price is for this system $100; however if you sign up for Vanity Planet’s newsletter, they send deals up to 75% off! They also have this for under $35.00 at Walmart.com.
The device comes with 3 different attachments, but my ultimate fav is the silicone brush. Its easy to clean and is really good at getting a deep clean and removing makeup out of my pores. The brush also has 2 different speeds and is battery operated.
I purchased the Spa System to help get rid of my dark spots but was a little nervous about using this on a daily basis. Using the brush paired with the thigh consistency of my Cetaphil cleanser its perfect on my skin. After using this combo my skin feels very soft and smooth.
4 Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask
I have been obsessed with watching people online using mask and reviewing them. I didn’t know if I wanted to try a mud mask or the sheet mask (still confused about how the sheet mask work). When I was in Target a week ago, I stumbled across this mud mask by Shea Moisture. I love Shea Moisture and currently use their hair products. I’ve also used their black body soap before and loved it, so I had to try the sample size the African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask. I purchased the sample size, but the mask also comes in a 4oz and 6oz container.
This mask is for problematic skin and is good for people with blemishes. It’s suppose to draw out impurities and absorb excess oil. If you have dry skin I wouldn’t recommend this mask. If you have dry skin, try their hydrating mask. You apply the mask to your skin avoiding your eyes and leave it on for 10 minutes. Like any other mask, as it dries you feel your skin tightening. After 10 minutes you remove the mask with a damp towel. To avoid excessive rubbing, I used a warm towel and let it sit on the area for 30 seconds then wiped the product away.
I thought with the African black soap it would leave my skin feeling dry and tight afterwards but I felt refreshed and my skin wasn’t dry at all. Also I felt my like my skin was brighter and had a glow. I will definitly be using this mask again and would recommend.
5 Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (w/ sunscreen)
This is a new product for me. I’ve used various moisturizer but didn’t find anything that I was in love with or that had sunscreen. This is at a higher price point for a drugstore product but I think it’s worth it. The main thing I look for in a moisturizer is that its light and absorbent. I hate using a moisturizer that is oily and heavy, especially under my makeup. This product leaves a smooth canvas before applying my makeup and makes me feel moisturized all day. Living in the Sunshine State, having SPF is very important. No one want pre-mature aging skin!
I’ve only been using this skincare regimen for a couple months and I’ve already noticed a difference in my skin. I use to have a texture to my skin, especially on my forehead. Since using this regimen I’ve noticed my skin is a lot more smooth and supple. I still have some blemishes, but I ‘m confident that with time they will diminish.
